Even with 5G, services would remain affordable, claims the telecom minister

The country’s 5G services are anticipated to launch in October, according to Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and even with 5G, the telecom industry will continue to be one of the most economical in the world.

“We had asked the sector to begin the process of installing equipment around the nation. Our committee already met today to ratify the spectrum allotment after the auction ended yesterday. We should be able to allocate the spectrum by August 10 and begin rolling out 5G in October “said Ashwini Vaishnaw.

“The world’s most cheap telecom industry is found in India. I expect that pattern will continue into 5G “He continued.

Further denying concerns of danger from electromagnetic radiation, the Union minister claimed that the amount of radiation was ten times lower than that in the US and Europe.

“Our ability to offer high-calibre services is shown by our low radioactivity. The EMFs should be increased rather than maintained at the existing level because our environment is safe and secure “ the minister said.

Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that after the services are launched, 5G handset production will accelerate up in response to questions regarding the technology that will be utilised to deliver them.

“We are the world’s second-largest manufacturer of mobile phones. A quarter to thirty percent of Indian-made mobile phones supports 5G. Each year, the price of 5G smartphones decreases. Most phones will be 5G capable over the course of a year, “he stated.

Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the telecom industry is a strategic one and that BSNL is crucial as a market stabilising force. She also discussed the possibility of BSNL’s revival and its role in the industry.

“The security of the nation may be significantly impacted by this industry. In order to bridge the digital divide, BSNL builds almost all of the essential infrastructure and extends it to far-flung communities. A broad platform is required to scale up and evaluate new technologies as they emerge “ the minister said.

He continued, “BSNL must become a lively, tech-savvy corporation in very competitive telecom industry since, despite all the problems, it has a loyal 10 crore customer base in the country.
