Airtel to be at forefront of bringing 5G connectivity to India: Sunil Mittal

The auction, which is set to start on July 26, will feature 72 GHz (gigahertz) of radiowaves that are estimated to be valued at least Rs 4.3 lakh crore.

With a strong network to serve the nation’s digital-first economy, Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Mittal has stated that the business will be at the forefront of bringing 5G connectivity to India. The timing of Mittal’s remarks has relevance now that the 5G spectrum auction countdown has started.

The auction, which is set to start on July 26, will feature 72 GHz (gigahertz) of radiowaves that are estimated to be valued at least Rs 4.3 lakh crore.

The Telecom Department will undertake a mock auction (also known as a practise run) on Friday and Saturday in advance of the major event (July 22 and July 23).

Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea are all expected to bid on 5G spectrum as part of the flagship Adani Enterprise Ltd. Company of billionaire Gautam Adani.

The 5G services that will introduce ultra-high speeds (about 10 times faster than 4G) and usher in cutting-edge services and business models are ready to launch in the Indian market.

According to Sunil Mittal’s statement in Bharti Airtel’s annual report for 2021–2022, “We can boldly assert that Airtel will be at the forefront of bringing 5G connectivity to India with a robust network that will support India’s digital-first economy.”

Airtel took the lead in 5G, according to Mittal, by testing ahead of the competition and becoming the first operator in India to show off a 5G cloud gaming experience and complete a successful trial of the 700 MHz spectrum for rural connectivity.

In his letter to shareholders, “Onwards with daring and confidence,” Mittal also predicted that the company’s revenue from digital services will increase by several billion dollars over the following several years while keeping a lean asset position.

The early results in Airtel’s digital ventures support this confidence, he said.

The financial year saw India emerge as a bright spot in the world economy despite new COVID-19 versions, geopolitical problems, surging commodity prices, and high inflation, Mittal said.

Gopal Vittal, the managing director of Airtel, declared that the firm is “totally ready” for 5G and that the company’s core network, radio network, and transport network are all completely future-proof.
